‘The Outsider’ is a thrilling crime-drama series that’s based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel having the same name. The outsider captures the life of a man Terry Maitland (Thunder Force actor- Jason Bateman), who is a prime suspect in the brutal murder of a young boy Franklin Peterson (Duncan E. Clark) in a small town in Georgia.

‘The Outsider’ Season 1 Recap:

The shocking part of THE OUTSIDER season one is how all evidence in the crime scene points to Terry as the perpetrator of the gruesome act. However, Terry claims to know nothing about Franklin’s death. The string of events that follow the death and investigation of Franklyn’s gruesome murder is even more interesting.

These events change the lives of everyone in the community. The whole town is thrown off balance by the mysterious happenings that follow the death of the local boy. Moreover, with the recent mysterious happenings in the town, everyone begins to think Terry might be innocent. They continue to suspect a lot of things – what if all the evidence against Terry was planted to frame him up. What if the real enemy is something bigger than they thought.

In an attempt to solve the mystery behind Franklin’s death and Terry’s claim of innocence, the police and investigating team is left in a state of confusion. What is more worrisome is the trail of evidence filled with a lot of coincidences.

‘The Outsider’ Season 1 Review:

THE OUTSIDER is a perfect combination of crime, fantasy, and drama that leaves you at the edge of your seat. One death leads to a whole lot of horrific events. More deaths, more mysteries, and a lot of questions to ask.

The first season of The Outsider revolves around the investigation led by detective Ralph Anderson into the murder of Frankie Peterson. Initially, all the evidence points towards Terry Maitland, a local teacher and baseball coach, as the perpetrator. However, as Ralph and his team delve deeper into the case, they make a startling discovery – Terry has an airtight alibi for the time of the killing. Nevertheless, despite this dissonance, eyewitnesses and forensic evidence persistently implicate him.

During the relentless investigation, Ralph is joined by the expertise of private investigator Holly Gibney. Her unique perspective and skills bring a fresh approach to the table. Together, they unravel an otherworldly force that may be the true perpetrator of the crime. This entity, known as El Cuco, derives sustenance from grief and pain, and has cunningly orchestrated events to frame Terry.

The season concludes with a nail-biting confrontation between Ralph, Holly, and El Cuco within a cave in Tennessee. Finally, they manage to vanquish the malevolent entity, exonerating Terry in the process. However, the harrowing experience leaves the protagonists deeply unsettled, leading them to question the very fabric of their understanding of reality.

‘The Outsider’ Season 2 Release Date: When can we expect?

There is a lot of anticipation for the second season of ‘The Outsider’ of which there is no official release date at the moment. However, it is said that season one seemed to have taken almost 100% of the novel, but fans are eager to see what next Stephen King (Castle Rock Season 3) would cook up as the second season of The Outsider.

While anticipations are high for the second season of ‘The Outsider’, there’s no pressure on Stephen King for the second part. This is because season one ended in a little bit unresolved manner with a scene indicating that Holly is next in line for possession by El Cuco.

But Outsiders Season 2 has been canceled, according to the WGN. The show’s final season aired in 2017, and the cops haven’t worked on it since.

Sadly, the series may be canceled for the second season. In November 2020, it was already announced that HBO canceled the show after its first season.

The Outsider Season 2 Plot

HBO stated unequivocally in their statement that season 2 of “The Outsider” will not be produced. According to sources, HBO decided against a second season of the horror crime drama ‘The Outsider’ after hearing the proposal for the second season. The pitch implied that the private investigator Holly Gibney’s life will be closely followed. Extending the plot beyond the original source material would have been a stretch, which may be why HBO decided to back off.

HBO has canceled the planned second season of Ben Mendelsohn and Cynthia Erivo’s successful adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider. HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys admits the decision was made because they couldn’t come up with a compelling story to tell.
