The Dragon Prince’s fourth season ends with a foreboding hint of what’s to come in the future. With Viren now in charge of the Staff once more and the map in their possession, it’s only a matter of time before the magical prison is unlocked and Aaravos is properly out and about once more. We know that Aaravos is the key to all of this.
This year, Claudia’s story arc has been pretty strong, and it’s comforting to see that she now has a good reason for wanting to save Viren. Her leading the gang forward after the revival spell was successful at the beginning of the season is a welcome change of pace.
Ezran has also really grown into his role as King, and his lecture on violence at the close of episode 3 was a standout. It was very well done and fit in with Claudia’s battle with the Skymage.
Additionally, Zubeia’s discussion of the past and how Aaravos has been the puppeteer all along, followed by the gradual fading of his visage next to Claudia, is a subtly conveyed visual cue that Claudia is being motivated by what this horrible antagonist desires.
In the end, though, the conclusion leaves plenty of room for more, and it certainly seems like this one will take up significantly going ahead. Next season, please!
