Six months after The Chair premiered, Netflix is yet to update us on whether the series will be returning for the second season. The series did exceptionally well, with a 7.2/10 rating on IMDB. Other series have been renewed with a rating lower than this; nothing stops the series from being renewed. We will have to be a little patient and hope that there will be a second season come 2024
The Chair Season 2 Plot: What is it all about?
The series plot revolves around Ji-Yoon Kim, the newly appointed English professor at Pembroke University. She is the first woman to be selected for that position; the role comes with many responsibilities. She has to maintain the stance and prove that being appointed was worth it all while keeping her newfound love and parenting her rather stubborn adopted daughter.
Season one ended with Kim not being the chair at the university after her colleagues got involved in a coup. Joan took her part, signifying her moving to an actual office, not the campus gym basement. Bill also turned down his settlement offer. The second season could therefore explore Joan’s new role, the troubled relationship Kim has with her daughter, Bill’s fight to get back his job, and Kim’s love life.
The Chair Season 2 Cast: Who will be in?
Sandra Oh plays Ji-Yoon Kim, the English teacher at Pembroke University. Jay Duplass plays Bills Dobson, Kim’s colleague who is still hung over the death of his wife and does not seem to move on. Bob Balaban is Kim’s colleague alongside Nana Mensah, David’s Morse, and Holland Taylor.
Other casts include Every Carganilla, which stars Ju Ju Kim, Kim’s adopted daughter. If The Chair is green-lit for a second installment, we expect Kim and all his colleagues to be back.
