Soapdish, the famous 1991 series that took the Soap Opera industry by storm, is finally getting its remake. The movie that gave us a feel of what the soap opera world feels like was finally getting its treatment, and we cannot wait for Whoopi Goldberg (Star Trek: Picard) to reprise her role as Rose. Jane, the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder, is set to co-write the series that has since been described as a dramedy. She will write alongside Asha Michelle Wilson, famous for writing the American Horror story. The two are expected to pen a juicier, soapier, and twistier comedy than the original.

We do not know when we will see Whoopi Goldberg reprise her role, but we know it will soon. The Soapdish series announcement came early this year, and the show might develop as we speak. The series acting is also yet to be revealed from Goldberg, but we hope this will be made public. The original show had a run time of 97 minutes, and we hope the upcoming season will be an upgrade.
Soapdish Season 1 Plot:
Since the upcoming series will be a remake of the Soapdish series released in the 80s, the show will tell the same story but polish it a little bit to make sense to the new generation. The film tells the story of Celeste, a veteran star who gets involved in the battle of power against Montana Moorehead.
Determined to win the war, Montana tries to stack the show’s deck to work in her favor by seeking the help of the show’s naive producer. Soon enough, Celeste learns that she might have a relationship with the show’s new performer Lori, but she remains mum about it. When the relationship between the two is finally revealed, everybody is shocked.
Soapdish Season 1 Cast:
Whoopi Goldberg will be reprising her role as Rose Schwartz, the soap opera head writer, and that is a performance worth looking forward to. She is the only cast we know of so far, as CBS is yet to announce if the initial casting will be reprising their roles apart from Whoopi. In addition to Whoopies Goldberg, the series starred; Sally Field (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Kevin Kline, Robert Downy, Elisabeth Shue (Super Pumped), Teri Hatcher, Cathy Moriarty, and Kathy Najimy (Hocus pocus). Some actors who starred in the original have since died; Carrie Fisher from Star Wars and Garry Marshall from happy days.

As disappointing as it is to the Soap fans, we are yet to receive any trailer of the Soapdish remake, and we do not know how soon the trailer will be released. But this is not one of the series where you will have to wait solely for the creators to get a sneak peek of what lies ahead of us.
