Ames Clavell’s take on feudal Japan is finally getting its remake on FX. The tale, which tells the story of the famous Samurai, Ninjas, Love and War, will finally be getting its adaptation, and this is one of the series to be on the lookout for. The American period drama will be based on the Clavell novel of the same name. This is not the first time the book is getting an adaptation, as it also received a remake in 1980 but we hope and know that the upcoming series will be better than all the versions ever produced.
Shogun Season 1 Release Date:
FX is yet to give a precise date of when we should expect the Shogun series. We do not know whether the show’s filming has begun, but its photography concluded in July. Since the series has already given out all the characters that are supposed to feature in the series, we could say that the show is actively developing. We should expect the ten-episode series anytime from now. A possible release date for the Shogun show is in 2023.
Shogun Season 1 Plot:
The plot will be based on the bestselling book of the same name by James Clavell. The book highlights the impact and Relationships between the Japanese and the Europeans. It follows the story of two ambitious men in the world who collide alongside a mysterious yet powerful woman, Lady Mariko.
The series explores the life of John Blackthorne, An English sailor whose ships wrecks in the Izu Peninsula on the South West Coast of Japan. Despite his shipwrecking, he is the first Englishman to ever set foot on that coast which calls for something to be proud of. He encounters a different world altogether, where people vie for power to be the Shogun.
He is then taken to the Toronaga Household, where he witnesses leadership and is soon absorbed. Soon enough, he meets Lady Mariko, a mysterious Samurai woman from a dishonored background.
Shogun Season 1 Cast:
The show casting came in early, and variety recently confirmed that the show’s main characters, Toronaga and Blackthorne, would be played by particular and studded actors, Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis. Sanada, who has acted in a couple of series, including Army of the Dead, Avengers and Endgame, will be playing Toronaga. His counterpart Jarvis has acted in Peaky blinders and Raised by Wolves, and he will play Blackthorne. Anna Sawai (Ninja Assasin) will be playing Lady Mariko, Tadanobu Asano as Kashigi, Tokuma Nishioka, Takehiro Hira, Ako, Shinnosuke Abe, Hiroto Kanai, and Toshi Toda.
Shogun Season 1 Trailer:
FX is yet to release a trailer for the Shogun series, but we expect that the series will be released in 2022, considering that the series photography concluded a while back. Once the series releases, you will be able to watch it on Disney as the channel is collaborating with both Disney and Hulu to bring you some fresh content.
