Patria Season 1 Review:

Undoubtedly, Patria is one of the most important series of the year. Three episodes in, it had moved people and provided many issues and topics to talk about. The show has the capability to keep you glued to the screen, entire series screened on 18th September with a 90 minutes interval, and it is not surprising that all the audience returned to watch the second half. Such reception is not a surprise considering the themes show is dealing with! People’s minds and hearts have wounded so deep ten years ago that nobody even speaks of the bloody campaign now. However, Patria shatters that silence and tells the story of families whose lives were ruined because of ETA’s violence. This show is not a documentary or a history lesson about Spain’s conflict for almost half a century. Instead, it is a fictional story that describes how ordinary people became victims of the tragedy. It is a must-watch!

Patria Controversy:

Before even hitting the screens, the show was the center of conflicts. There were many critical comments on the show’s poster, which shows a victim of a terrorist group on one side and a member of ETA being tortured on the other. The poster somewhat placed the perpetrators and the victims on equal footing. The show discusses both sides of the story without being favorable to anyone.
