More inland states, including those in the Midwest and Great Plains, tend to be less populated. California is by far the most crowded U.S. state with the most populated cities. It has almost 40 million inhabitants, which comprises 12% of the population of the country.

It is in the Midwest Upper and is in the third position of the USA’s least populated states. Sheep, elk, and moose are included in the wildlife of this state. The north shares the border with Manitoba; in the south with South Dakota, Minnesota; in the east, Montana, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba to the west.

5. South Dakota

The capital of South Dakota is Pierre, and Sioux Falls is its biggest city. Its current population is 908,414 people per mile, and its current density is 10.9. Mount Rushmore is one of South Dakota’s popular resorts. It is attached with six states border: Montana to the north and Dakota to the north; Wyoming to the west; Nebraska to the south and Minnesota and Iowa to the east.
