Making his directorial debut, Michael B. Jordan will reprise his role on the third installment of Creed with Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad.
Creed III is scheduled to be hit the theatres on Thanksgiving 2022. Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin are jotting down the screenplay based on Ryan Coogler’s outline.
MGM’s Film Group chairman and the president shared their views regarding Jordan’s directorial debut. They are excited to begin Michael’s journey as a director and bring the next chapter of the ‘Creed’ story to theaters next year.
In 2018, Creed II was produced and distributed, and in 2015, Creed was made with Warner Bros. The first “Creed” film was driven by Ryan Coogler, who directed Jordan in the movie “Fruitvale Station” and “Black Panther.” “Creed II,” directed by Steven Cape Jr., “Creed III” will be the ninth installment in the “Rocky” franchise, which reintroduced Sylvester Stallone, who won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1977. “Creed III” also marks Jordan’s feature-directed debut film. He produced Creed II as executive producer.
Jordan is giving his statement to The Hollywood Reporter that Directing has always been his fascination, but he was waiting for the appropriate time. Creed III is the time in his life where he made sure who he was, growing up personally, developing professionally, and learning from great personalities like Ryan Coogler and Daniel Washington. He added that particular ‘Creed III’ is very special to him. He is eager to share the Adonis Creed’s next chapter with the duty of being its director.
The film producer Winkler stated that they were very excited that Michael is directing the third installment of Creed. Their dedication to this character is remarkable, and they know that their role behind the camera will be incredible on this new installment.
Jordan will serve as a producer and a Chartoff-Winkler Production, Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, David Winkler, Jonathan Glickman, and Ryan Coogler, Proximity Media. Adam Rosenberg, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler are the executive producers of the movie.
The original movie earned $173 million, and the second film gained more than $214 million. All series of “Creed” has grossed approximately $ 400M at the worldwide box office. Recently, Jordan is honored with PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive 2020 label alongwith Jimmy Kimmel.
Creed III will be premiered theatrically in the US through MGM’s distribution and marketing joint venture United Artists and released on November 23, 2022.
