Mike Schur’s ambitions were soaring high when Peacock had given his fantastical series, Field of Dreams, the green light in August 2021. But alas, fate had other plans for him.
In a recent interview, Schur disclosed that Peacock had pulled the plug on his dream project, even though it was deep into pre-production. “They just changed their mind,” he said. “They didn’t want to spend the money anymore.”
The only consolation prize for Schur is the fact that a baseball stadium standing tall in the cornfields of Iowa remains as the sole vestige of his ambitious project. Let’s hope that his future imaginative works receive the support they deserve, however grand.
Field of Dreams Season 1 Release Date: When will it air?
The TV adaptation of “Field of Dreams” has hit a roadblock as Peacock has reportedly pulled out of the project. However, the project is not dead yet as Universal Television is currently shopping it to other potential outlets. While we wait for more news, it’s difficult not to feel nostalgic about the timeless tale of dreams, family, and second chances that inspired the adaptation in the first place.
Field of Dreams Season 1 Plot: What is it about?
Deadline announced that the show would be a mixture of Family, baseball, and Iowa Magic reimagined to pay tribute to the earlier film. The film and the novel were based on W.P. Kinsella’s Shoeless Joe, written in the 80s. It follows the story of Ray Kinsella, an Iowa farmer who is also obsessed with Baseball. He goes ahead and builds a baseball field in his cornfield as a way o reconnect with his dead father.
After completing the area, he sets on a trip to visit people who never got o to see their baseball-related dreams. Based on the story description, there are several possibilities of how the story could go. It may focus on an Older Ray or his daughter Karin Kinsella.
Field of Dreams Season 1 Cast: Who will appear?
When Liz Gilamon, Iowa’s film commission, was asked about the series casts, she said that she was not yet aware of the stars, but from what she knows, they are names that we have heard severally. Shea also added that the team behind producing the beautiful unlimited series cares deeply about the legacy of Field of Dreams.
This can only be translated to the show having some of the best casts and teams behind its making. Some of the actors featured in the 1980s film were also planned to reprise their roles in the upcoming show.
