In Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s Persuasion novel, “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress Dakota Johnson will portray a titular role. Carrie Cracknell is going to direct this movie. The scriptwriters of the movie are Alice Victoria Winslow and Oscar winner Ron Bass.
As per Variety, the filming of this project will begin this year in May. After Knives out and The Lovebird’s production, MRC Film studio will produce this movie along with Netflix.
Persuasion revolves around unmarried Anne Elliot’s life, who is 27 years old, and her family is on the verge of bankruptcy. In 1806, Anne engaged with Navy Captain Frederick Wentworth, but she broke her engagement when her family and friends persuaded her. After seven years, they met again and gave herself a second chance at love and marriage.
Persuasion is based on the novel by Jane Austen before her death, and it was published six months after her death in 1817. This novel is depicted as a modern and witty approach to a beloved story. This period-drama Persuasion has been gone through multiple adaptations, combining four made-for-television adaptations, broadcasts on radio, productions for theater, and other literary concepts.
Recently, Dakota was featured in the Fifty shades trilogy as Anastasia Steele. Her other upcoming work is Am I Ok? and The Lost Daughter. No official date is scheduled to release this movie. But Netflix already writes down its official description on its streaming platform: “Living with Anne’s snobby family on the verge of bankruptcy, Anne Elliot is an unconformity woman with modern sensibilities. When Frederick Wentworth – the dashing one she once sent away – crashes back into her life, Anne must choose between putting the past behind her or listening to her heart when it comes to second chances.”
Additionally, another production of the same novel’s adaptation in which Jessica Swale is working on the script, and the director is Mahalia Belo. Anne Elliot will be played by Succession actress Sarah Snook and Captain Wentworth will be portrayed by Games Of Thrones star Joel Fry.
