Black Panther was a box office smash ($1.3 billion)! After the saddening news of Chadwick Boseman’s unexpected death, the sequel’s shooting was planned to initiate in March 2021. 2020 has been hard on Marvel fans because of much bad news.
However, due to the pending releases from Phase 4, the shooting has been moved to July 2021. Sources tell us that the shooting will take place in Atlanta and will last for almost six months. There is a possibility that Letitia Wright’s character, Shuri, might take on a more prominent role. Mexican star Tenoch Huerta is in talks to play the antagonist. Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, and Angela Bassett are expected to return to play their roles.
The big question is, how is Marvel gonna proceed without Boseman? Marvel has not revealed the story or its approach, but it has been indicated that it won’t use CGI to make the movie’s late actor appear. Victoria Alonso, Black Panther’s executive producer, confirmed the statement regarding the CGI.
Alonso’s words really cut deep; she said that there is only one Chadwick who is no longer with us. We have lost our King in real life, not only in Fiction. She added that they are taking the time to figure out how to continue the story and honor this chapter.
Marvel indeed has its hands full with pending movies, but the sources say that the series are the priority as it takes a lot of focus to ramp them up. She-Hulk’s production will also commence in March, starring Tatiana Maslany.
WandaVision will premiere on 15th January on Disney+. We will see Elisabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as the superheroes. The studio is also working on the first Seasons of Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki. Ms. Marvel’s shooting also began recently starring Imam Vellani. So you can see how much Marvel needs to focus on the series.
Marvel fans are used to seeing at least two stories every year. Marvel has a lot of stuff in the stock, just waiting for the situation to improve. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Black Widow, and Eternals are slated for a release in 2021. Not to forget, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is also in the making. Soon, we will also have Ant-Man 3, Deadpool 3, Spiderman 3, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
So don’t you worry, there is a lot to look up to, we just have to wait for a little.
