The favorite American sitcom get the approval for a fifth season. The TV show has numerous loyal fans, which makes the renewal of a new season a no brainer, and a frontline show for ABC network. Created by Sarah Dunn, the show has been selected for the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Comedy. The last season which premiered on 27th September 2019, ended with 20 episodes on January 17th 2020, 2 episodes short if the regular 22 episodes because of the Coronavirus pandemic shutting down TV production. Critics praised the show for the stellar performance of the show runner Katy. Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic delivered an approximate score of 59% from a total number of 63 reviewers, giving the show a diverse and median rating.

In May 2020, American Housewife was renewed for a new season. The expected air date when season five will premiere is on the 28th of October this year.
American Housewife Season 5 Expected Plot: What will happen?
The show follows Katie Otto, a mother of three children. Taylor, the eldest daughter, is an opinionated girl who wishes to fit in with her peers. Oliver is the cynical middle kid, who has great ambitions. Lastly is the sweet and mummy’s favorite, Anna, an obsessive-compulsive. Katie and her husband, Greg, both an average couple raises their kids in an affluent part of Connecticut. Katie, a non-remorseful mother tries to keep her family from getting lost in all arrogance and pretentious lifestyle around them. Remember, in last season finale, Katie stands up for Anna, who was being intimidated by her classmate. Katie went as far as courageously confronting the bully’s mum to set things right.
We expect season five to pick up where the previous season left off.

The main cast of the previous seasons are all expected to make a return in the coming season.
- Katy Mixon will return as Katie Otto, the ever mother.
- Better Things season 5 star- Diedrich Bader will play the role of Greg Otto, Katie’s husband.
- Alexandria Wong play the role of Doris, one of the two confidants of Katie.
- Carly Hughes will also play Angela, the other confidant to Katie.
- Meg Donnelly will play Taylor Otto, Katie and Greg’s oldest daughter.
- Daniel DiMaggio will play the role of Oliver Otto.
We have on good authority that, Katie’s youngest daughter will now be played by Giselle Eisenberg (Life In Pieces), following the departure of Julia Butters for better opportunities. Julia got great exposure last year from her role in Quentin Tarantino’s movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Other cast member will include: Leslie Bibb (The Big Easy), Jessica St. Clair (Best Friends Forever), and Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland).
