Produced in Britain, A Discovery of Witches series is based on the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. The fantasy, romance-drama, was named after the first book in the Trilogy. The series first premiered in the UK on SKY ONE TV channel in September 2018, and the first season had eight episodes. The reception was quite impressive, and Sky One renewed it for the second and third seasons. The second season will air in January 2021 with ten episodes.
Sundance Now, Shudder, and AMC Plus copresented the third season of A Discovery of Witches on January 8, 2022.
A Discovery of Witches Storyline:
The story revolves around Diana Bishop, a reluctant witch, and historian who discovers a bewitched manuscript in the Bodleian Library. Her discovery makes her get back to the magic world to unravel secrets the library holds about magical beings. A mysterious geneticist and vampire offer to help her despite a known long-held mistrust between vampires and witches. The two form an alliance geared towards protecting the book and solving all mysteries and threats hidden from the creature world.
A Discovery of Witches Season 4 Release Date:
All three seasons of A Discovery of Witches are adapted on Deborah Harkness’s All Souls Trilogy, which includes A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night, and The Book of Life, which neatly officially ends the storylines of vampires, witches, and demons at the conclusion.
As a result, Diana and Matthew’s experiences will come to an end with season three, as the series has been canceled. However, the cast has discussed whether they would return for any potential spin-off series, providing Sky TV and Deborah Harkness were willing to produce them.
Unfortunately, the newly released third season based on Deborah Harkness’ third All Souls trilogy novel The Book of Life, is the final volume of the Netflix series.
Harkness ended the plot in the third book, and season 3 ended the tales of Matthew, Diana and their companions.
Sadly, A Discovery of Witches will not have a fourth season. That isn’t to say that viewers will never see these actors again.
A Discovery of Witches Season 4 Cast:
The cast was aware that season 3 would be the final one, and actor Teresa Palmer (Diana) discussed the show’s conclusion at the MCM Comic Con in London in October 2021.
“I would say ‘bittersweet’ is sort of the perfect word,” she remarked. “I’ve been able to be with Diana for a few years now, and just seeing where she started and where the journey ends, I feel so ready to have left with her, because I believe she ended in such a wonderful place, but I think it was hard to say goodbye at the same time.”
She also shared a photo on Instagram in early 2021, shortly after production on the final season wrapped.
If it is renewed for Season 4. There is no doubt that the main cast will be coming back. There is also likely to be new additions to the series to help build on the plot. As of now, we can say for sure that these actors and actresses will be showing up for season 4:
