HBO has a vast content we relate with, and this time around, they attempt to find a good laugh with history in the newly released series “Our Flag means Death. Created by David Jenkins, the series features the adventurous real-life experiences of Stede Bonnet, the Barbadian pirate who was a very wealthy landowner before he resolved to be a pirate.
What makes his case an interesting one was he was a perfect gentleman, retired from the army, and since he did not have any experience in being a pirate, he had to buy a shop and hire goons to do his pirate work for him. Set in 1717, the wealthy landowner gets tired of living the “gentleman” life and being a landowner, which does not end as well as he thought he would. But with the first series out, do we expect a second season?
Our Flag Means Death Season 2 Release Date: When will it air?
The first episode of the Our Flag Means Death premiered on HBO on 3rd March 2022, and up until now, the series has a 7.7/10 rating on IMDB with only eight episodes out. The remaining two are expected to be out by 24th March, and maybe after the series release in its entirety, we will get a fluid lineup of its status.
So far, the series’ performance among fans is impressive, and it would not be too wrong to be guaranteed a second season. The first season was filmed for over a year, and if we consider the timeline, we should expect a season 2 in early or mid-2023.

The comedy is loosely based on the true adventures of the perfect gentleman who tuned rogue when he decided to venture into the pirate business. Stede Bonnet, a retiree from the army and a wealthy landowner, decides to be the captain of “Revenge,” the pirate ship, but since this sea ground is unexplored, he has to hire goons to do his dirty work.
Being master of what you have not done before can be challenging, and he has to earn the admiration of his crew despite being the employer, something he struggles to attain at first. All seems to go well until he runs into a very acclaimed pirate, Captain Blackbeard. What follows after the country is Stede and his crew’s tactics to survival s they have to get their lives together and survive being at seas.
Our Flag Means Death Season 2 Cast: Who will be in?
Those who will survive the high seas of the first season will be back, and we expect Stede (Rhys Darby) to survive against all odds. He stars alongside Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows), the BAFTA award winner who plays Captain Blackbeard. The two being real-life friends who have worked on several projects like Next Goal Wins makes the acting natural and exceptional. Since the series includes many hostages, there is a chance that we may see new talents in the upcoming chapter.
