The Queen’s Gambit Season 2 Reasons for Cancellation: Is it Canceled or Renewed?

Speaking to Deadline, Scott explained that the first season had put across the story they wanted to tell, and another one would ruin it instead of adding to or building.

This is partly because the writer of the novel that the Queen’s Gambit is based on did not provide a sequel, and therefore the first season captured everything contained in the book

When asked whether there would be a second season, award-winning actress Anya Taylor (Last Night in Soho), who premiered as Beth said at the beginning of 2021 that the show was meant to have a single season, even though she did not rule out the possibility of a new one.

Scott’s fellow producer, William Hoberg, also teased that the cast would keep working together and get another story they would tell with the same passion, casting more doubts on the possibility of another season.

Even with such heartbreaking news, the first season of the Queen’s Gambit keeps streaming on Netflix.
