Lil Wayne was in the headlines last week because of a big announcement. Lil Wayne sold his masters back in June for $100 million. The reports say that he gave much more than just the rights to his music.

Music Business Worldwide also has something to say, and a pending lawsuit reveals that Lil Wayne sold Young Money’s entire catalog to the Universal Music Group.

Wayne has a hand in Nicki Minaj, Tyga, and Drake‘s successful careers as he helped by signing them to Young Money Records. These three artists have released many projects under Young Money.

For example, Drake’s 2018 Scorpion and many others were released under this label. After Scorpion, Drake’s other projects have been coming out under his own imprint. Tyga also stopped using the label “Young Money” since he released “The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty,” which was his fourth album. If we talk about Nicki, her entire catalog, which includes “Queen,” has been released under Wayne’s record label.

Surprisingly, Wayne sold his masters and the Young Money catalog at a time when artists want to obtain the rights to their masters. Kanye West faced a hard time getting his masters back from Universal. West tweeted that his kids are gonna know his own masters.

It was reported that Lil Wayne sold Drake’s massive hit albums such as ‘Views,’ ‘Take Care,’ and ‘Nothing Was the Same.’  Nicki Minaj’s “The Pinkprint” and “Pink Friday” were also released under Young Money.

It didn’t take very long for the news to spread, and fans are tweeting that $100 million is too less for Drake and Nicki Minaj’s masters. Lil Wayne has a net worth of $150 million.

Lil Wayne certainly has a lot to worry about at this moment other than his records. He is facing a gun charge that could put him behind bars for ten years. In 2019, his private jet was searched by federal authorities, and a firearm was found.

Bob Dylan also sold his entire catalog for $300 million just some weeks before. Best Toppers will keep you updated with this story—it kind of feels like what Birdman did to Lil Wayne back in the day.
