Kingdom Season 2 Recap:

In season 2, the story picks up where season 1 left off, as Prince Chang and his followers strive to halt the spread of the plague and uncover the truth behind the conspiracy. Seo Bi, a physician, eventually unveils that this infection stems from worms residing within the Resurrection Flower. Armed with this knowledge, Seo Bi discovers that the infected individuals fear fire, while water effectively eliminates the worms, liberating the host.

Upon learning this information, Prince Chang devises a final plan to confront the hordes, which culminates in a blood-soaked climax in the season 2 finale. Recognizing that sheer force alone will not save the palace, Chang and his men embark on a suicide mission—a last-ditch effort to safeguard Korea before the infection engulfs the entire nation. Together, they journey towards a frozen lake, taking a final stand in front of a burning temple designed to contain the zombies.

Overwhelmed by the relentless horde, Chang’s forces endure significant casualties, and each of our heroes succumbs to a zombie bite in succession. As gunmen valiantly attempt to shoot through the ice, aiming to drown the zombies en masse, time begins to run out. All seems lost until Chang makes a desperate gambit to shatter the ice by forcefully slamming one of the infected down onto the frozen surface. In a climactic moment, both soldiers and zombies plunge into the frigid waters, eradicating the horde entirely. Miraculously, those who were bitten during the final moments survive, as the water expels the infectious worms from their bodies before reaching their brains and fully transforming them.

To ensure the complete eradication of the plague, the surviving soldiers meticulously remove all zombie corpses from the water and incinerate them the following day. With this gruesome task completed, Chang is left with one final duty—eliminating Queen Cho’s illegitimate baby. However, he has a change of heart and instead opts to spare the child, entrusting his future to an orphanage under a new identity.
