Earlier this year, Disney announced the remake of “Lilo & Stitch,” and now it is confirmed as Crazy Rich Asians Director Jon M. Chu is in negotiations with Disney to direct this project. Originally the movie was written by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois; they received critical acclaim for “How To Train Your Dragon.”

Let’s talk a little about Lilo & Stitch, the movie was released in 2002, and it did not achieve great success at the beginning at the box office. The film is about a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo; she finds Stitch, an alien who is a genetic experiment and crash-landed on earth. Innocent Lilo thought that Stitch is a dog and adopts him. Stitch became a part of Lilo’s family.

The movie later inspired a TV series that aired from 2003 to 2006. Also, a few direct-to-video followed. Many people are negative about this, but it is happening. However, it is still unclear whether the film will land on Disney+ or in theaters.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who also worked on Aladdin’s live-action remake, will be the producers of the film. Rideback’s Ryan Halperin will serve as the executive producer. Disney is eyeing for another writer to work on the project with Chu.

When we talk about Disney’s history of live-action remakes, they have revived several movies. Mulan is the latest Disney project in this category, and it also faced a lot of negative comments. The Lion King, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and Cinderella are also some of Disney’s live-action remakes.

Chu is proving to be a good director, and many talented people are connected with this project who knows how to make a movie, but some people are really freaking out about the matter. We are just gonna have to wait and see what Disney hits us with; I think we all can agree that instead of a realistic one, we want a Stitch that looks like blue furry Baby Yoda; it’s gonna take them some time to make him look cute though.

Disney didn’t reveal any actor’s name; we are yet to see the names who will take these cute characters’ skin. Soon we will find out if Chu will surprise us or it will be a letdown.
