Sony has delayed the release of its much anticipated Ghostbusters movie till summer next year. Fans have to wait till June 2021 before they can see the fourth installment in the Ghostbusters Franchise. The movie follows after Ghostbusters II was released 31 years earlier in 1989. The movie was one of the most expected for the year; however, the Coronavirus pandemic resulted in the shift. They are created by Jason Reitman, son of the first two movie scriptwriters in the Ghostbusters series. The comedy-drama is expected to garner favorable reviews, as the trailer released has fans eagerly waiting for the release.
The Reitman’s hope that the movie catches on with the present generation, as this would fast track the possibility of a sequel and it’s production if the ratings become favorable.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Cast: Who will be in?
Among the cast members will include members from the old movies, which are;
Bill Murray as Dr. Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond Stantz, the original parapsychologists in the earlier movie. Others are Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barret, Ernie Hudson (LA’s Finest Season 2) plays the role of Dr. Winston Zeddmore, and Annie Potts (Young Sheldon) as Janine Melnitz.
New cast members will include Carrie Coon plays Callie, Finn Wolfhard (Addams Family 2) as Trevor, Mckenna Grace as Phoebe, and Paul Rudd playing the role of Mr. Grooberson.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Plot: What is it all about?
As earlier mentioned, the movie will be a follow-up to the 1989 movie. Therefore the movie’s storyline will be many years into the future. The movie will focus on the inter-generation relationships between those before and the new set of Ghostbusters. The movie’s synopsis states, a single mother and her children move into a quiet small town. When abnormal earthquakes spring up in the town they reside in, they research and find out that they have a relationship with the original Ghostbusters and the heirloom left behind by their grandparent.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife Release Date: When is it hitting on the screens?
The movie was initially supposed to air in July 2020, but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the release date was shifted to March 2021; however, this date was further shifted till June 11, 2021. No reason was given for this hopefully final shift, other than the June date was close to the release date in 1984 when the first installment was released. And again, the release date was shifted to November 10, 2021.
