Prepare to be spooked, sci-fi and horror fans, as Amazon, in collaboration with Paramount Television, are joining forces to bring a series adaptation of the iconic 1997 film Event Horizon. The bone-chilling classic is set to get a model update. Who better to helm the project than the talented Adam Wingard, who will be both executive producing and directing the potentials series?
Wingard is no stranger to horror, having directed Blair Witch, The Great, and You Are Next. Alongside Wingard, other executive producers for the upcoming series include Larry Gordon, Lloyd Kevin, and Jeremy Platt, with Gordon and Levin producing the original film.
Event Horizon Season 1 Release Date: When will it air?
Unfortunately, two years later, Amazon has yet to give any updates on when we should expect the second season’s release. The series announcement came in 2019, and by now, you should think that we know the series’ episode count or their runtime, which is not the case for the Event Horizon series. We are unsure whether filming or the series’ filming location has started or is in progress.
If filming starts this year, the series could be out by 2024. If it does not, we are afraid the series will not be coming to your screens anytime soon.
Event Horizon Season 1 Plot: What will you get to see in the movie?
The series’ main storyline focuses on a spacecraft that vanished after testing a novel gravity drive that could create a synthetic black hole. This technology was intended to permit the ship to voyage to far-off locations within the galaxy. However, the ship inexplicably reappears, leading to the dispatch of a rescue team and the inventor of the gravity drive to investigate.
Their findings reveal that the vessel has journeyed to a horrifying dimension beyond the boundaries of the known universe. This dark and evil realm has infected the ship with a sinister force, which results in numerous fatalities.
Event Horizon Season 1 Cast: Who’s on board?
Despite the show’s announcement in 2021, updates on the series “Event Horizon” cast are yet to be released. The 1997 film starred Laurence Fishburne as the rescue ship’s captain and Sam Neill as the inventor of the gravity drives, but the chances of him reprising his roles are none. Viewers will have to be patient a bit longer for updates on who will bring these beloved characters to life on the small screen.
It is, however, known that Wingard has been appointed to direct and serve as an executive producer of the project, together with Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin, and Jeremy Platt. It’s worth noting that Gordon and Levin also served as producers of the original film.
Event Horizon Season 1 Trailer: When can we watch it?
Unfortunately, no release date for the trailer has been announced yet, leaving fans in the dark about what to expect from the new show. In the meantime, fans can revisit the original movie and reacquaint themselves with its terrifying premise. For those who haven’t watched the movie, now is the perfect time to catch up before the Amazon adaptation hits the screen. With the movie’s reputation as a cult classic, fans will surely be in for a treat.
