Riches is an upcoming British series set to explore Black families in Business. The series is created by Abby Ajayi, The First Lady creator, who will star Hugh Quarshie, Sarah Niles, and Deborah Ayorinde. The upcoming series announcement came in in early 2022, and its development went under waters for almost a year. It was only one year later that the series casting was made, and the series started filming that hope of seeing the series coming to our screens got resurfaced.
Now that the series has been set for a 2nd November release date on Amazon Prime and a later release date on ITV, we can finally say that the long wait was worth it in every aspect. Here is very little detail we know about the upcoming Drama series.
Riches Season 1 Release Date: When will it air?
After almost two years of waiting for the series’ debut, the show will be on Prime Video on the 2nd of December. The series announcement came in 2022, announcing that the Riches show will consist of six episodes, each recounting the story of the black-owned Business. The series casting came in 2021, and filming began in November 2021. We hope that the long wait will be worthwhile once the series premieres
Riches Season 1 Plot: What will happen next?
The plot revolves around Stephen Richards, a billionaire businessman who built his business from scratch. Stephen has built one of the successful cosmetic industries, and it is black-owned, making business competition twice as tight as it should be. Richard, however, gets a fatal stroke, and it does not take long until he is laid to rest.
After his death, the struggle for succession begins, and the family has to fight to take what they think is rightfully theirs. With the family’s secrets on the line, the remaining members must fight to keep their reputations and marriages intact.
Riches Season 1 Cast: Who will be a part of it?
One of the cast members is Hugh Quarshie, who will play Stephen Richards. The Ghanaian-born actor has been in the acting industry for decades, and some of the series he has played in include The Dogs of WarWing Commander, Red Sparrow, Star Wars, Conspiracy, etc.
He will be casting alongside Deborah Ayorinde as Nina Richards, Sarah Niles as Claudia Richards, and Brendan Coyle as Gideon Havelock. Coyle has also been featured in several projects, including Tomorrow Never Dies, The General could Read the Sky, The Jacket, Perrier’s Bounty, Noble, Me Before You, and Mary Queen of Scots. Other casts include Hermione Norris, who plays Maureen Dawson.

The series trailer starts with the workplace dynamics, then later progresses to business talks, glamorous pictures taken, and, sadly enough, a funeral. Betrayal, fights, and disagreements soon follow, and empires’ owners must work hard to retain what they have worked for.
