Hi everybody, Again yours karthik here. I’m serious Nature photographer specialized in Bird & Wildlife Photography. I revealed my (not only mine; all other famous photographers) photography pro techniques for bird photography here.
1. ShutterSpeed
Use always maximum shutterspeed to get most wanted freezed result of birds. Birds are so active, so because of that we can’t able to capture any sharp photo. Use atleast 1/2000 (or) 1/4000 shutterspeeds to get good results.
2. Auto Focus Lock
Most of the photography beginners (even professionals too) doesn’t know about this feature. This is very use to take photography of birds, recomposing the landscape and much more. So use it as where ever your situations need.
3. Focus on Eyes
Always focus on bird’s eyes to get stunning results.
4. Framing on Eye Level
Compose your frames at low level to frame the bird to get the picture more poetic than you see.
5. Use Telephoto
Birds are so sensitive. So Keep away from them and keep them playing themselves. Using minimum 300mm (or) 400mm telephoto lens to take the photos with decent distance. 6. Steady Hand (or) Tripod?
Although you have a VR Lens (Yes, I’m Nikon User), try to use Tripod (or) Monopad as where as possible to get sharp photos. But for some conditions like birds on flight couldn’t allow you to take photos with them. So handle the camera carefully without any shakes.
7. Go to Bird’s home
Birds lives with us. In our home, garden, traffic (terrifc!! 🙂 ) road sids you can see them. But for good bird photography you need to go their sanctuaries and zoo. Animals & Birds are very active with their own home like us.
8. Pay attention on Background
Always pay attention on background of the scene which you want to capture. A bad background can change the mood & visual of the photo. And don’t always keep background as blur, sometimes we need to show the bird’s environment with them. So think about it too in your next click.
9. Use Continuous Shots
I hope you all guys know this technique. Use continuous shots to allows to take minimum 4/5 frame per second which is must for action photography. Whether you take birds, animals or sports events you must fix this setting to get best shot.
10. Avoid Sun Focusing on you
Shoot away from the sun. Usually backlits birds will not be good as front-lit birds. Simply planning to stand in the correct spot will significantly improve the quality of your bird photography.
