Books to TV adaptations are all the rage in the current cinematic atmosphere, and The Old Man is a compelling promise on the horizon. The Old Man is yet another exciting iteration of classic spy thrillers but adds its twist of uniqueness: this time, the spy is retired, and he is not a good person protecting his self-interest. The Old Man revisits the familiar themes of attempted retirement while introducing more novel concepts such as the power of experience and seasoning. Not many shows are bold enough to explore the moral ambiguity of what defines an intelligence officer. Even fewer are willing to explore this spy past their prime years. The Old Man is a breath of fresh air that invites us to take it in. All of it.
Has The Old Man been renewed for Season 2?
On June 27, the second season has been ordered of Jeff Bridges’ action-thriller show about a former CIA agent who is evading danger.

The Old Man Season 2 Release Date: When will it come?
News regarding production and release began to circulate in 2019, two years after Thomas Perry developed and published the source material. The series was announced in 2019 but was never developed past the pilot episode’s conception. For many dedicated fans, it was always a matter of when rather than if the book would be turned into a live-action tv series. So, when it was reported in 2021 that Hulu and Disney+ would be taking up the series, the champagne bottles were expectedly taken out, and celebrations kindled. The series is slated to air in international markets on June 16, 2022 on both Hulu and Disney+.
The Old Man Season 2 Cast: Who will be appearing in The Old Man?
After the announcement of plans to undertake the development of the pilot episode, key roles began to be cast. Jeff Bridges, who stars as the mature Dan Chase, was the first to be cast. In September, Jon Watts (Mighty Ducks: Game Changers) was commissioned to direct the pilot episode and act as executive producer. At the same time, John Lithgow (Perry Mason) and Amy Brenneman (Goliath) were cast in the roles of Harold Harper and Zoe, respectively. In October, Alia Shawkat was cast in the role of Angela, and in March, Bill Heck was cast in the role of a young Dan Chase. In December 2020, Navid Negahban (Tehran) and Pej Vahdat were cast in the roles of Hazard and young Hazard, respectively.

The Old Man Plot: What should we expect?
From what is known about the source material, The Old Man will largely feature a retired intelligence officer who attempts to stay alive after his past catches up to him. The Old Man is about a spy who retires to Vermont with a stash of USD 20 Million. However, his past sins catch up to him as assassins are sent after the retired spy. With his current reality colliding with his past reality, he is forced to dive back into the world he left behind.
The Old Man Storyline: What is it all about?
Spies rarely ever meet a comfortable end. Dan Chase threatens to subvert this pattern in this thriller show and nearly succeeds. But reality has a circular nature, and Dan is forced to face his past and attempt to survive its advances. The story follows a linear trajectory that explores the consequences of seemingly minor sins in our past and how they manifest in our present and future.
