Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024: Cyndi Lauper Shines in a Class Dominated by Legends
This year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees lean heavily into classic rock nostalgia, with pop icon Cyndi Lauper standing out as the sole female solo artist in a lineup that includes Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes.

Selected from 14 finalists announced earlier this year, the 2024 class notably skews toward rock tradition, with Atlanta hip-hop pioneers Outkast as the outlier in an otherwise guitar-driven roster.

Take a peek at the Key details

  • Induction Ceremony: Airs live on Disney+ November 8 from Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, followed by a Hulu release November 9. A shortened version will later air on ABC.
  • Snubbed Artists: First-time nominees The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Maná, Phish, Mariah Carey, and Oasis missed the cut, as did Joy Division/New Order (nominated for the second time).
  • Fan Vote Drama: Phish topped public voting with nearly 330,000 votes—50,000 more than runner-up Bad Company—though fan support doesn’t guarantee induction.

2024 Honorees Beyond Performers:

  • Musical Influence Award: Salt-N-Pepa (rap trailblazers) and Warren Zevon (late rock songwriter).
  • Musical Excellence Award: Thom Bell (Philly soul architect), Nicky Hopkins (session piano legend), Carol Kaye (bass pioneer).
  • Ahmet Ertegun Award: Lenny Waronker (visionary producer/executive).

How Induction Works:
Artists become eligible 25 years after their first commercial release. Final selections are determined by over 1,200 voters, including musicians, historians, and industry insiders.
