We have yet to determine how many episodes the upcoming show will consist of, but we know the documentary will be worth binging on. Chasing Waves Season 1 Plot: What should we expect?
The documentary explores all the surfers doing their best to ensure that the cultural aspect of surfing is carried forward to all generations. It highlights some of Japan’s defining moments in surfing and the individuals that have made it possible. The show also goes deeper into Japan and its diverse cultures and practices. The unique characteristics of Japan and Japan’s Coastline make it stand out from all the other surfing regions. Part of Japan’s interesting culture, the series also shifts to some of the various athletes, their backgrounds, and what motivates them to participate in professional surfing. The personalities will also highlight some crucial practices and beliefs that have made them ace the professional surfing industry.
Chasing Waves Season 1 Cast: Who will be coming?
The upcoming documentary features some of Japan’s big names, including Mahina Maeda, Yuma Taknuki, Sara Kohrogi, Kanoa Igarashi, and Connor O’Leary. Maeda competes in the World Stuff League and has won the World Junior Champion competition thrice. Kohrogi is also the president and the founder of the UC Berkeley Surf Team. Konoa Igarashi has won the Olympic Silver Medal and competed internationally and professionally worldwide for ten years. Wrapping up on the team is O’Leary, the Australian Japanese surfer who takes after his pro surfer parents.

The show’s trailer starts with a voice appreciating the existing surfing culture in Japan and how it has been passed down to him through the years. Another surfer also explains how they would love to make their parents proud, and surfing is the best way to do it. They then explain how surfing is more challenging than it is, and you are either fully in or out, not in between. The show’s trailer has a lot of dynamics, and we can already tell that the upcoming series will be worth watching.
